The Potato & The People: Celebrating our Potato Suppliers

Our fries begin where it matters most–– on the farm. We partner with trusted, U.S.-based suppliers like 100 Circle Farms and Martinez & Sons Farms to grow top-tier whole potatoes with care and precision. 100 Circle Farms grows potatoes in circles so large you can see them from space, harvesting up to 2,400 tons of potatoes per day. Martinez & Sons Farms, a multi-generational Hispanic family potato farm in Washington, produces high-quality russet Burbank potatoes perfect for McDonald’s golden-brown fries. The combination of 100 Circle Farms’ high-tech agricultural efficiency and Martinez & Sons’ deeply rooted community in the Pacific Northwest ensures the highest quality potatoes are used in every McDonald’s fry.

The Golden Standard: Powered by Partnership

Great fries require great partners. The path from harvest to happiness continues with amazing food distributors, like McCain Foods, who were recently named McDonald’s Top Global Supplier of 2024. McCain Foods plays a vital role in turning premium potatoes into fries served in over 100 countries. McDonald’s applauds McCain’s efforts to invest in clean energy, drive down supply chain emissions, and innovate around food safety, reducing environmental impact while keeping the quality of every fry consistent. Their efforts include precision farming, smart water use, and preserving freshness in frozen fries to ensure the same great taste every time.

The Path to Perfection

Before they make it to the fryer, McDonald’s French fries take quite the journey. It starts on these potato farms and continues where premium whole potatoes are harvested and sent to suppliers like McCain Foods to be peeled, cut, and partially fried for that crave-worthy crunch. These cut potatoes are then flash frozen and shipped through a temperature-controlled supply chain to McDonald’s restaurants worldwide. The result? Frozen fries that are ready to be cooked to perfection, producing that signature golden-brown exterior and fluffy interior.

The Fame Behind the Fry

From early print campaigns to viral TikTok's, McDonald’s fries have earned their place as one of the most iconic menu items in the world.

Over the years, McDonald’s fries have become a cultural symbol and have been featured in everything from nostalgic campaigns to witty social content that reminds us why we love these fries in the first place.

But it’s not just flash, it’s trust. McDonald’s fries rely on quality, consistency, and simplicity — whole potatoes, reliable sourcing and partnerships rooted in food safety and sustainability. The message is clear: these are golden-brown fries that you can count on.

Modern Approach, Classic Taste

Since debuting in the 1950s, McDonald’s fries have remained true to their iconic taste. Through refined sourcing, preparation techniques, and partnering with impactful suppliers, McDonald’s continues to deliver smiles with a side of dipping sauce.
