J Balvin and McDonald’s Team Up Once Again to Create “Dorado,” a Collaboration That Shines a Golden Light on Latino Culture
November 19, 2020
“Dorado” debuts tonight and will be available exclusively to view on the McDonald’s App
CHICAGO, Nov. 19,2020 – In time for The Biggest Night in Latin Music®, J Balvin and McDonald’s are dropping “Dorado” to celebrate the unshakeable optimism of the Latino community. Inspired by J Balvin’s most recent album Colores and McDonald’s Golden Arches, “Dorado” (“Gold”) aims to uplift Latinos and encourage them to keep shining while remaining proud of who they are.
The setting for “Dorado” is a McDonald’s restaurant and stars J Balvin who plays different characters. Each character represents and honors Latinos from all walks of life, including an abuelito (grandpa), a basketball player and a McDonald’s crew member. The soundtrack features a reggaetón beat and motivational lyrics that pay homage to Latinos’ feel-good mindset (“porque dónde hay un latino hay fiesta”/ “because where there is a Latino, there is a party”) and speak to being proud of one’s heritage (“gracias mamá por hacerme latino”/ “thanks mom, for making me Latino”).
“We are committed to elevating the voices and stories that salute our Latino customers as we continue feeding and fostering the communities we serve,” said Elizabeth Campbell, Senior Director of Cultural Engagement, McDonald’s USA. “Through music, this collaboration perfectly shines a light on the special optimism of the Latino community. We’re excited to bring ‘Dorado’ to our customers in partnership with J Balvin, an international icon known for his positive outlook and creativity.”
“Dorado” will make its broadcast debut during a commercial break of the 21st Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards® taking place on Nov.19. Following the show, “Dorado” will be available to view exclusively on the McDonald’s App for a limited time.
“‘Dorado’” is meant to empower our community and send the message that dreams can come true regardless of the circumstances," said J Balvin. “We have always faced tough challenges, but through hard work and consistency, we can overcome them. I always tell my fans that we must remain positive and optimistic.”
This collaboration follows the success of McDonald’s J Balvin Meal, served at restaurants nationwide last month. Be sure to download the McDonald’s App to be one of the first to listen, dance and enjoy “Dorado” following its debut and to receive exclusive deals and offers from the Golden Arches.
