Tiffanie L. Boyd has joined McDonald’s USA as its new Senior Vice President & U.S. Chief People Officer. Tiffanie comes to the McFamily from General Mills as their former Vice President, Human Resources, General Mills North America Retail, where she led talent initiatives, organization design, culture change, and employee engagement for 11,000 employees across the largest business segment of General Mills.
Get to know Tiffanie with five quick facts about her!
1. She’s an accomplished and respected leader from General Mills. Tiffanie joined General Mills—known for brands like Cheerios, Betty Crocker, Pillsbury, Haagen-Dazs, Yoplait and more—in 1997 as an intern and worked her way up within the multinational organization over 23 distinguished years. She has a reputation for implementing talent, organization, and culture strategies that drive business results. Her various roles took her to Toledo, Atlanta, Chicago and Minneapolis. She also served as Vice President of HR for General Mills Canada in Toronto, Ontario, and she’s held global roles where she’s traveled and worked with General Mills teams all over the world.
2. She’s known as a focused business leader who’s not afraid to get uncomfortable. Tiffanie is not easily rattled and she doesn’t overreact. Yet, she is a change agent who is driven to make people and organizations better. Her passion for employee development is evident in her work. Above all, Tiffanie believes that love and compassion are key to ensuring employees feel heard, valued and supported.
3. She’s a loyal Michigan Wolverine. Originally from Detroit, Tiffanie earned both her Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and her Masters of Business Administration in Organization Behavior from the University of Michigan Ross Business School in Ann Arbor. As an alum, she has led recruiting efforts at Michigan and served on the BBA Advisory Board. Michigan also holds a special place in her heart because she met her husband Colbert there. They have two teenage sons, Evan and Ian, who are also Michigan fans. At Christmas, you can find them all dressed in Michigan pjs and there is a special ‘maize and blue’ Michigan Christmas tree in their home.
4. She is a purpose-driven servant leader. Her desire to serve comes naturally. She started teaching Sunday School to younger kids at her grandfather’s church when she was a young teenager. At 15, her first job was working with mentally disabled men to teach them basic skills. She has always found ways to mentor, coach and teach others. In recent years, she has spent time on boards and advisory teams focused on closing the achievement gap for kids of color. She is currently co-chairing the American Heart Association Go Red for Women movement.
5. She’s excited to join McDonald’s because... McDonald’s is an iconic brand with amazing reach across the country. With 14,000 restaurants in the U.S., this role appealed to Tiffanie because, in her words, “McDonald’s has the ability to impact people, communities and the economy in such a meaningful way. I’m also honored to join a strong team focused on elevating the people and culture agenda of an already great company. Oh, and I can’t get rid of the ‘ba da ba ba ba …I’m lovin’ it!’ refrain in my head, which confirms that McDonald’s is where I’m supposed to be!”
