We showed up to their homes with a sweet treat to cheer up kids and parents—a surprise birthday cake.
When we found out about all the kids who had to cancel their McDonald’s birthday plans, we knew we had to make it up to them somehow.
Kids everywhere love to spend their birthdays at our restaurants. Here in Croatia we’ve been missing out on all those celebrations, and so have the kids. Birthdays are an important day, so we made sure kids got a sweet treat to make up for not being able to celebrate as they had hope to… with a surprise birthday cake.

The cakes were met with the same smiles we’re so used to seeing. Children and parents cheered, and we cheered right along with them. We miss seeing happy kids in our restaurants, so we were thrilled to show up and help them celebrate their birthday this year. The more joyful memories we can help make during this time, the better.
