McDonald’s is proud to announce the next cycle of the Chicago Community Impact Grants Program, developed in partnership with The Chicago Community Trust. This year, we’re inviting Chicago-based nonprofit organizations to apply for funding through an open process with expanded focus areas that reflect the evolving needs of our city—marking a new chapter in supporting the communities we call home.

Our connection to Chicago runs deep. The first McDonald’s restaurant opened in Des Plaines, Illinois, in 1955, and today, our global headquarters remain in the heart of the city. Chicago isn’t just where we’re based—it’s our hometown. That’s why we are committed to creating opportunities in the communities that give us so much.

Since launching the program in 2022, McDonald’s has invested $8.5 million in local organizations reaching tens of thousands of residents across Chicago. This year, we’re investing $4 million to continue driving meaningful change – our largest grant program yet.

Program Objectives:
This year’s grants will focus on two key objectives that address urgent challenges facing Chicago’s youth:

  • Enhancing workforce readiness by removing barriers to education and employment—through initiatives like apprenticeships, career training, mentorship, and holistic support services.

  • Addressing food insecurity by expanding access to food and food education—through food banks, mobile markets, community gardens, and community-led solutions.

Through these grants, McDonald’s aims to empower youth and strengthen communities by investing in organizations that expand access to food and create pathways to opportunity—starting right here in Chicago.

Key Dates:

  • Application Opens: September 30, 2025

  • Application Closes: October 31, 2025

  • Informational Webinar Available: October 6, 2025 (linked on the application landing page)

We encourage all eligible organizations serving youth in Chicago to apply and help us continue building a stronger future for our city.
