San Diego Area McDonald’s Restaurants Testing New McCafé Cold Brew Coffee

October 15, 2018

As part of McDonald’s continued commitment to serving customers more tastes and choices from McCafé, the company is bringing the strong, distinctively smooth taste of cold brew coffee to customers at 74 McDonald’s restaurants in the San Diego area as part of a menu test.

The new McCafé Cold Brew Coffee can be ordered with guests’ choice of cream and sugar and can be customized with French vanilla, caramel or hazelnut flavors. For a bit of added sweetness, McDonald’s will also be testing a handcrafted McCafé Marble Cold Brew, which enhances the McCafé Cold Brew Coffee with sweet creamy syrup and swirls of light cream.

“San Diego is a city full of coffee lovers, so it’s an ideal place to test our McCafé Cold Brew Coffee,” said Jamie Straza, a San Diego County McDonald’s franchise owner. “We were first in the country to test All Day Breakfast and we’re thrilled to continue bringing menu innovations to our San Diego customers.”

McCafé Cold Brew Coffee is made with 100% Arabica coffee beans sourced from Rainforest Alliance Certified™ farms in Guatemala. These farms meet stringent environmental and social standards that help ensure the wellbeing of farmers, employees, families, the environment and wildlife.

From hot brewed coffees to lattes and cappuccinos, McDonald’s wants all its customers to be able to enjoy great-tasting coffee, today and into the future. That’s why McDonald’s is part of the global movement to ensure coffee is grown and traded in ways that support communities and their land and has set aspirational goals to sustainably source 100% of McDonald’s coffee by 2020.

“Whether you prefer your cold brew coffee black or sweet and creamy, we have something for all San Diego coffee lovers,” said McDonald’s U.S. Food Innovation Manager, Wayne Kuhl. “These 100% Guatemalan coffee beans produce an extremely smooth, rich cold brew that isn’t too strong and isn’t watered down. It’s the perfect full-flavored wake-up call or afternoon boost.”
