Creating the Restaurant Experience of the Future

April 30, 2019

If you’ve been in a McDonald’s restaurant recently, you might have noticed something’s different. Maybe it’s the digital kiosks or the friendly employee delivering food right to your table. Over the past year, we’ve been giving thousands of restaurants a surprising new look and feel that we’re calling our “Experience of the Future.”

We’ve incorporated technology at your fingertips so we can focus on creating a more convenient and enjoyable experience for anyone who comes into our restaurants. We understand these new experiences can be exciting for people to try, so we’ve created new roles like Guest Experience Leaders. They’ll answer your questions, guide you through the ordering process and offer recommendations based on what you like, so you can truly make your favorite meals your own.

Because our restaurant owners know their guests best, we let them uniquely customize their remodel. From the layout to the furniture material, each update is specifically chosen to best serve the needs of the surrounding community. Our team of restaurant designers has even taken your walking patterns into consideration, configuring dining room layouts in a way that makes it easier and faster to get fresh, made-to-order food.

And these enhancements aren’t limited to the in-restaurant experience. Remodeled restaurants will make it easier for you to satisfy cravings from anywhere with the McDonald’s app and McDelivery from Uber Eats. Globally, more than 1 billion people live within five to 10 minutes from a McDonald’s, which gives us an unbeatable advantage in speed.

Through mobile ordering, McDonald’s is making your mealtime experience all about you. Mobile Order & Pay offers a new level of choice and convenience, allowing you to pick up your order however you like: inside at the front counter, at the drive-thru window or in a curbside parking spot. Submit your order from your McDonald’s App, and as soon as you enter the geofence of the restaurant, we begin preparing your order so it’s made hot and fresh just for you.

We’ve already brought the Experience of the Future to half of our 14,000 U.S. restaurants, which is great progress toward our goal of transforming all U.S. restaurants by 2022. You can learn more about McDonald’s evolution by following us on social @mcdonaldscorp
