Share the Gift of Giving this Holiday Season with McDonald’s USA and RMHC

November 27, 2018

This Giving Tuesday, McDonald’s is making it easier than ever to help families in need through the Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC) by utilizing new technology found in our Experience of the Future restaurants.

McDonald’s has placed change boxes at our cash registers and in our drive thru windows for years, collecting loose change and small donations to RMHC. And while it may not sound like much, that loose change adds up quickly when you’re serving millions of customers across the country every day.

This holiday season* we’re making donating to RMHC even more accessible in our restaurants, by adding credit card donation options on our kiosks at participating restaurants. Customers can add $1, $3 or $5 to their bill bringing our tried-and-true concept of the change box into the digital age.

For every $1, $3, or $5 donation our customers make, we’ll hang a donation card on the wall in the restaurant. These small, affordable amounts have tangible value for RMHC Chapters across the country, making each donation meaningful and understandable for a child.

100% of the donations collected at McDonald’s restaurants will be sent to RMHC, to benefit families caring for children with serious illnesses.

In addition to the emotional stress that these families often face, they are also overwhelmed with logistical issues. That’s where RMHC comes in, to help keep families with sick children together and near the care and resources they need.

“RMHC programs provide support to millions of children and their families around the world each year,” said Sheila Musolino, President and Chief Executive Officer, RMHC. “The McDonald’s National Fundraiser benefitting RMHC provides individual donors an opportunity to make a significant impact on our mission and help families with sick children.”

McDonald’s is proud to be able to bring this opportunity to celebrate generosity to all families nationwide during this season of giving. Be sure to share a photo of your donation card on social media with the hashtags #GivingTuesday and #KeepingFamiliesClose.
