Mayo Clinic Expert Advisors Step Behind the Counter as McDonald’s Continues to Drive Safety Measures

September 03, 2020

On January 28, a team of expert advisors from Mayo Clinic, a global leader in serious and complex care, visited a McDonald’s restaurant in Rochester, Minnesota to view McDonald’s enhanced COVID-19 operational procedures. Subject matter experts met with the restaurant’s management and other team members to understand how McDonald’s implements enhanced procedures to help enhance safety for customers and staff.

Mayo Clinic reviewed the enhanced health and safety measures in action, including employee wellness checks, barrier placement, employee positioning and usage of personal protective equipment, as well as cleaning, sanitization and disinfection practices. Though most McDonald’s U.S. dining rooms remain closed, the Mayo Clinic team observed what the dine-in experience will be like for customers when McDonald’s dining rooms reopen.

“We invited expert advisors from Mayo Clinic to observe a working restaurant because, when it comes to the safety of our communities and people, McDonald’s will never get complacent,” said Bill Garrett, Senior Vice President for U.S. Operations. “We will continue to make our decisions based on the latest science around COVID-19 and we are grateful for the continued expertise from Mayo Clinic’s subject matter experts.”
