In nearly 14,000 neighborhoods across the U.S., McDonald’s restaurants serve local communities in ways that go far beyond our menu. 1 in 8 Americans are part of a one-of-a-kind community who have worked at a McDonald’s restaurant, benefitting from world-class job training and developing critical life skills. And that’s just scratching the surface on our impact…

Now, for the second year in a row, McDonald’s has partnered with Oxford Economics to share key insights on how the Golden Arches is driving positive impacts at the national and state levels. This time, we are going even deeper, taking a close look at McDonald’s impact in ten of the biggest cities across the country. Our most recent analysis finds that:

  • We mean business. McDonald’s supported 1.1 million jobs and contributed $76 billion to the country’s GDP. The System also generated and supported more than $21.5 billion in federal, state, and local taxes in 2023.

  • Education is power. The Archways to Opportunity®  program has been a pillar of support for our crew member community for the past decade and will continue for decades to come. In 2023, the program offered more than $25.2 million in tuition assistance to over 12,000 U.S. restaurant employees.

  • We give back. McDonald’s is celebrating 50 years of our founding and forever partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). In 2023 alone, McDonald’s, its franchisees, and customers helped raise more than $57.4 million for RMHC in support of families with children who are sick or injured around the world. That contribution helped RMHC Chapters and programs in the U.S. keep nearly 960,000 children and their families close in their time of need.

  • Amazing suppliers fuel our restaurants. McDonald’s suppliers play a critical role in helping drive our business forward. In 2023, the McDonald’s System invested over $20.1 billion in the U.S. supply chain.

“The McDonald’s brand creates opportunities for nearly 2,000 local small business owners, generates meaningful jobs, offers a place for communities to come together, and serves up quality, affordable meals to 90% of the U.S. population every year,” says McDonald’s USA President Joe Erlinger. “We view this as an incredible privilege and responsibility, and we are proud to share a glimpse at the impact we're making in your communities.”
