McDonald’s Giving Away A McGold Card, Granting One Person Free McDonald’s For Life

To celebrate the national rollout of Mobile Order & Pay in the McDonald’s App, customers who use Mobile Order & Pay will be entered for a chance to win the elusive McGold Card, now in a mobile version

It’s not a myth. The mysterious McGold Card, which for years has been rumored to grant a select few free McDonald’s for life, is in fact real and returning for one fortunate fan. McDonald’s officially confirmed that the card exists and only a handful of people have ever gotten their hands on one.  Now, one lucky customer will join the ranks of the McGold Card holders, and it’s easier than ever before, now in mobile form. For a chance to win free McDonald’s for life, U.S. customers need only download the McDonald’s App and place an order via Mobile Order & Pay starting on Aug. 10 through Aug. 24, with one possible entry per day.*

This marks the first time McDonald’s has ever given away a McGold Card. The card give away is exclusive to the McDonald’s App, which allows customers to customize their orders, get exclusive App deals and place their order ahead of time from their phones. Mobile Order & Pay also allows customers to pick up their order however they want: Curbside, Inside the Restaurant or at Drive Thru.

“Mobile Order & Pay is just one of the latest ways we are transforming convenience and value for our customers,” said Hashim Amin, Head of U.S. Digital at McDonald’s. “To celebrate Mobile Order & Pay, we’re giving one of our mobile customers the chance to win the McGold Card and join a select group of McDonald’s fans, just for using the app.”

The winner of the McGold card will also be awarded with a customized 24-carat golden phone case to mark their membership into the history and mystery of McGold Card lore, all powered by the McDonald’s App in 2018.

At a ceremony introducing The Gateway Arch in 1965, McDonald’s gave out the first McGold Card to the mayor of St. Louis, MO that awarded a lifetime of free McDonald’s. From that monumental moment, a small select number of McGold Cards have been given out to notable figures ranging from the governor of Michigan to the king of Sweden. Only one card will be given away after August 24th.

Mobile Order & Pay on the McDonald’s App is available in nearly 14,000 restaurants in the U.S. It is just one of the ways McDonald’s is using technology and innovation to transform our customers’ experience.
