Meet Jordan, a future sustainability leader from Australia

August 31, 2020

Jordan F., a Department Manager in Brisbane, Australia.

I started working at McDonald’s back in 2012, when I was 14 years old. At the time, I didn’t know what I wanted to do long-term – but over the years, my interest in sustainability and protecting the environment really took off.

Eventually, I knew I wanted to study sustainability in college. I pursued that dream, and recently earned a Bachelor of Business degree with a double major in events and sustainable tourism. I know – it’s a mouthful!

I continued working at McDonald’s throughout my time at university. I’m so glad the management team at my restaurant encouraged me to keep up with my coursework and earn my degree. Truthfully, they helped me push myself to limits I didn’t think I could reach.

I’m proud to say that since graduating, I’ve continued to work at the same McDonald’s restaurant – all while continuing my education in sustainability. This past September, I was chosen to take part in McDonald’s new LEAD Program, which enables me to work on a critical business project that’s presented back to senior leadership at McDonald’s Australia. Right now, I'm working to help develop a sustainability initiative that can be rolled out in all McDonald’s restaurants across the country.

I’m so looking forward to furthering my knowledge of sustainability and helping determine how McDonald’s, as a brand, can help the environment. Our size and scale give us the potential to make real, positive change around the world – and I hope to see it happen.
