We’re leaning into the menu classics that McDonald’s customers crave most

People are passionate about our food. They love our great-tasting classics and love knowing they can enjoy their favorites at any McDonald’s in the world.

Big Mac, Quarter Pounder, Cheeseburger – these iconic, core menu items are the heart of our business and what our customers return to again and again.

That’s why we’re training our focus on the menu items that matter most to our customers, while still innovating in ways that riff on McDonald’s beloved classics (more on that later).

First, beef. It’s how we made our name, and now we’ve made many of our burgers even better with small changes that add up to a big difference you can taste – like searing in smaller batches, adding onions on our burgers at the grill for more flavor, and new buns toasted to a golden brown.

We rolled out these changes in Australia and Canada last year, and customers noticed a dramatic difference in taste. Our classics at their best! So we’re planning to bring these changes to the majority of our global markets over the next couple of years.

In the United States, customers also love one of our biggest burger changes made two years ago: 100% beef Quarter Pounder burgers cooked fresh, right when ordered.* (We’re hungry just typing this.)

Next, let’s talk about chicken and the newest, much-anticipated entry to our U.S. menu: the Crispy Chicken Sandwich, arriving 2021 in restaurants across the country.

It will be simple, but fantastic – a craveable crispy chicken fillet, topped with crinkle cut pickles and butter, all served on a toasted potato roll. Our customers asked for it and we can’t wait for them to get a taste.

We’ll also continue to bring spice and flavor to our classic chicken offerings around the world, like Chicken McNuggets and McChicken sandwiches. The McSpicy sandwich is already a hit in many markets outside the U.S., and Spicy Chicken McNuggets captured customers’ attention in the UK and U.S. during limited-time promotions this year.

And what’s a day without McCafé coffee? We are excited to offer our customers moments of real coffee satisfaction made simple, which means great-tasting, affordable coffee, convenient and available anytime of the day or night, whether through the Drive Thru or at a McCafé counter.

McDonald’s classics are the core of our business, but we know customers are looking for exciting new tastes, too.

Last year, with those customers in mind, we tested our first plant-based burger in select restaurants in Canada. Based on what we learned and an encouraging response, we’re excited to give you a sneak preview of the McPlant – a delicious plant-based burger crafted for McDonald’s, by McDonald’s, and with the kind of craveable McDonald’s flavor our customers love.

In fact, we think our culinary team nailed it. There are other plant-based burgers out there, but the McPlant delivers our iconic taste in a sink-your-teeth-in (and wipe-your-mouth) kind of sandwich. It’s made with a juicy, plant-based patty and served on a warm, sesame seed bun with all the classic toppings.

Markets can adopt the McPlant when they’re ready and we expect some to test the burger next year.

In the meantime, we can’t wait to show you what’s next.
