Uber and McDonald’s to Drive Delivery Growth with Long-Term Global Strategic Partnership
November 15, 2021
Today, McDonald’s and Uber are announcing a new, long-term global strategic partnership, evolving their existing agreement and providing McDonald’s customers and franchisees with the convenience and value of McDelivery® in markets across the world. As McDonald’s earliest and largest Global Delivery Partner, Uber Eats has helped to advance the availability of McDelivery across the globe since 2017 and this new partnership will support the growth of delivery and advance both companies’ commitment to innovation. As McDonald’s expands customers’ ability to order delivery directly through the McDonald’s app, Uber will be a preferred and trusted partner in fulfilling these orders in thousands of McDonald’s restaurants in the U.S. and globally.
Delivery is a significant component of McDonald’s Accelerating the Arches growth strategy to drive the business forward while providing a fast, easy experience for customers. Since the launch of McDelivery five years ago, McDonald’s delivery footprint has grown from 3,000 restaurants to more than 32,000 restaurants across 100 countries through partnerships with both local and global platforms.
As the world’s largest restaurant company, McDonald’s offers Uber unique advantages, including an iconic brand, unmatched proximity to customers around the world, demand throughout the day, operational excellence, leading customer acquisition and world-class marketing expertise.
Since teaming up in 2017, McDonald’s and Uber have delivered hundreds of millions of orders to consumers across six continents. McDonald’s will benefit from Uber’s global brand and operations footprint, best-in-class technology for dispatching orders, and the more than 3 million drivers and couriers on the platform worldwide. Uber, the largest food delivery marketplace outside of China, will also power orders placed through the McDonald’s app through Uber Direct, a white label offering for delivery.
McDonald’s is the world’s leading global foodservice retailer with nearly 40,000 locations in over 100 countries. 93% of McDonald’s restaurants worldwide are owned and operated by independent local business owners.
Uber’s mission is to create opportunity through movement. By changing how people, food, and things move through cities, Uber is a platform that opens up the world to new possibilities.
